Ages 2.5 years to 5 years.

The preschool classrooms at BCLC are composed of children 2.5 years to 5 years of age. In multi-age classrooms children have opportunities to nurture and model skills for younger children, be nurtured and encouraged by older peer models, participate in more complex activities with older peers, and develop at their own pace knowing that there are a variety of developmental expectations in the classroom not just one. BCLC has four preschool classrooms with 10 children maximum in each room.

Our preschool classroom environments offer a rich variety of spaces, materials and activities organized to promote children’s active exploration and mastery. Although classrooms often appear informal, they are the result of careful planning and structuring to ensure that the needs of each child are met in a supportive and nurturing way.

Our teachers encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, promote cooperative social interactions, support individual creativity and diversity and provide opportunities for children to use their growing bodies to develop a sense of autonomy and self worth. Children are provided with tasks and activities that promote language development, learn readiness skills to prepare them for school, learn about their world through creative play, develop their large and fine motor skills, develop thinking and problem solving abilities, and, optimally, develop emotionally and socially.
