Monkey Room

Ages 2 years to 3 years

The Monkey Room serves children between 2 and 3 years of age, although this may vary depending on each child's development. There are three caregivers with a maximum capacity of 14 children. The Monkey Room's curriculum is designed to encourage stimulation in motor movement, social and emotional development, and creative expression. A basic routine is followed and adapted according to the children's needs and moods. Lessons are derived from both teacher led and child center activities.

The following are examples of what your toddler will be during their time in the Monkey Room:

Sensory Experiences

• Bubbles
• Playdoh, Flubber, Gak, and clay
• Water, sand, rice, and corn meal sensory table

Social and Emotional Development

• Following basic rules and instructions
• Sharing, helping, and talking with friends
• Participating in small groups

Fine Motor Development

• Manipulatives
• Stringing Beads
• Simple Puzzles

Gross Motor Development

• Dancing and marching
• Circle games and songs
• Climbing, jumping, running, and skipping

Language Development

• Reading stories
• Singing songs and saying fingerplays
• Talking and communicating

Self Help Skills

• Eating and cleaning up independently
• Putting on and talking off socks, shoes, coats, etc.
• Potty training (if and when ready)

Creative Expression

• Coloring, painting, scribbling, and drawing
• Dress up and imaginary play
